Liverpool 1-0 Everton, Curtis Jones hits stunner as Liverpool edge past Everton

Curtis Jones scored his first goal for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield.

The 18-year-old picked out the top corner from distance in the 71st minute as a much-changed Reds side managed to secure their sixth straight victory in all competitions.

Only Joe Gomez and James Milner kept their spots in the Liverpool XI from the clash with Sheffield United, while there was a debut for recent arrival Takumi Minamino as Klopp rung the changes.

Carlo Ancelotti, though, made just two alterations from the side that started against Manchester City on New Year’s Day with Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin coming into the side.

Liverpool are back in Premier League action away to Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, while Everton will host Brighton & Hove Albion on the same afternoon.
