Marcelo Makes Last Ditch Tackle On Messi, Celebrates Like He’s Scored A Goal

Marcelo made a vital last-ditch challenge on Lionel Messi in this evening’s El Clasico and celebrated like he’d scored a goal.

Real Madrid ran out 2-0 winners on Sunday evening and while leading by one goal, Marcelo saw the Barcelona captain was one on one with Thibaut Courtois and had the chance to equalise.

But the Brazilian ran back to make a crucial slide tackle to intercept Messi and he rose to his feet and roared to the crowd in the Bernabeu.

The game between the two Spanish giants had been a lackluster affair but Marcelo’s battle cry revved the crowd up.

Marcelo also managed to run faster than Messi, with the 31-year-old clocking in at 30.9 km/h while the Argentinian was running at 29.5/h.

Zinedine Zidane’s side move back to the top of La Liga following the victory and they opened the scoring through teenage sensation Vinicius Junior.

The 19-year-old had endured a torrid first half and was ruthlessly mocked on social media.

But he made his mark in the 71st minute when he drifted into the Barca box and coolly slotted past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Quique Setien’s men had their chances in the first half but they could not find a way past Courtois.

Substitute Mariano Diaz added a second in extra time to wrap up the victory for ‘Los Blancos’.
